Welcome!

IDEA-STEM stands for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We like to call out Healthcare too!

The challenges…

We need diverse, inclusive and equitable STEM workplaces to solve the world’s most challenging problems. Professionals and trainess from equity deserving groups continue to face substantial barriers to participation in STEM.

Putting Accessibility back into EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion)

Professionals, post docs, students and trainees with disabilities, face numerous barriers throughout their careers. The current lack of negative attitudes, STEM appropriate accommodations, mentors, self-advocacy skills, accessible documents, and learning resources in culturally informed formats are only a few of the common systemic challenges that continue to exist in academia and research environments.

Our vision.

To make science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and healthcare disciplines accessible, equitable, and inclusive for persons from all equity deserving groups. In particular, we aim to improve the experience of students and trainees with disabilities in STEM and healthcare fields.

Our Goal.

To facilitate the inclusion of people from equity deserving groups in STEM and healthcare by serving as subject matter experts. We change attitudes and create possibilities by providing consulting, education, and training on a broad range of topics in the IDEA-STEM space.
